Manage Job Templates
What Are Job Templates?
Job templates define your standard services — what you offer, what you charge, how long it takes, and what appears on the invoice. When you create a new job and select a template, all of this information is filled in automatically. Templates are the reason job creation in KeyBolt takes seconds instead of minutes.
Viewing Your Templates
Go to Settings > Templates to see all your current templates. Each one shows:
- Template name — the service name your customer sees (e.g., "Residential Lockout")
- Job type — the category it falls under (lockout, rekey, install, etc.)
- Default price — the starting price. Can be overridden per job.
- Estimated duration — used for scheduling and calendar blocks.
Editing a Template
- Tap any template to open it.
- Change the name, price, duration, or job type.
- Edit the default line items — these are the individual charges that appear on the invoice. Each line item has a description and an amount.
- Tap Save. Changes apply to all future jobs using this template. Existing jobs are not affected.
Creating a New Template
- Tap + New Template at the top of the Templates page.
- Enter a name that clearly describes the service.
- Select the job type from the dropdown. This determines how the job is categorized in reports and analytics.
- Set the default price (what you normally charge) and estimated duration (in minutes).
- Add line items. For example, a "Master Key System" template might have: "Master key system consultation" at $150, "Per lock rekeyed to master" at $35, and "Master keys (set of 3)" at $25.
- Tap Save.
Reordering Templates
Templates appear in the job creation flow in the order you arrange them. Drag and drop to reorder on the Settings page. Put your most common services at the top — for most locksmiths, that's Residential Lockout and Car Lockout.
Tip: Create templates for every service you offer regularly, even if they're variations of the same type. A "Rekey - 1 Lock" and "Rekey - Whole House (6 Locks)" template will save you time versus adjusting quantities on every rekey job.
