Comparison

KeyBolt vs Housecall Pro, for a locksmith shop.

Housecall Pro is a mature home services platform with a deep feature set and a lot of add-ons. KeyBolt covers less ground on purpose and puts the phone line in the base price.

What KeyBolt costs

KeyBolt is $99 a month for Basic (up to 5 team members) and $189 for KeyBolt Pro (up to 10). Both are month to month, both include a 14-day free trial with no card, and neither charges per extra user inside those limits. On Pro, voice and SMS are billed directly by Telnyx at carrier rates with no markup from KeyBolt, which runs a typical small shop $80 to $130 a month on top.

What Housecall Pro publishes

  • Basic: $59/mo billed annually, $79/mo month-to-month. 1 user.
  • Essentials: $149/mo billed annually, $189/mo month-to-month. 5 users, then $100/mo per additional user.
  • Max: $299/mo billed annually, $329/mo month-to-month. 8 users, then $75/mo per additional user.
  • Voice, CSR AI, Tap to Pay, Payroll, Accounting and others are listed as add-ons. Housecall Pro does not publish prices for most of them on its pricing page.

Where Housecall Pro is the better pick.

We would rather you chose right than chose us.

  • Housecall Pro has a far bigger feature surface: consumer booking, marketing campaigns, payroll, and business coaching are things KeyBolt does not build and does not plan to.

  • It is an established company with a large support and training operation. KeyBolt is new and small, and you should weigh that.

  • If you want one vendor for payroll and accounting alongside dispatch, Housecall Pro can be that and KeyBolt cannot.

  • For a single operator, Basic at $59/mo billed annually is cheaper than KeyBolt Basic at $99.

So which one?

Pick KeyBolt if

A locksmith shop that wants the phone line, the after-hours answering, and the locksmith-specific records included rather than assembled from add-ons.

Pick Housecall Pro if

A shop that wants the widest platform under one vendor, or that needs payroll and marketing tooling in the same place as dispatch.

Questions.

Which is cheaper?
For one person, Housecall Pro Basic is cheaper. For a team of five wanting a phone line and AI answering, KeyBolt Pro at $189 covers 10 users with those included, while Housecall Pro’s equivalent means Essentials plus add-ons whose prices are not published. Ask them for a written quote and compare it against $189.
Why can’t you tell me the add-on prices?
Because Housecall Pro does not publish them on its pricing page, and repeating a number from a review site would be a claim we could not stand behind. Ask them directly.
Does Housecall Pro handle key codes?
Not as a dedicated field. You would keep them in custom fields or notes.
Does KeyBolt do payroll?
No. There is a time clock with regular, overtime, and holiday totals and a weekly CSV you hand to your payroll provider. KeyBolt does not run payroll itself.

Housecall Pro is a trademark of its owner. KeyBolt is not affiliated with them. The figures above come from Housecall Pro’s own published pricing page on the date shown, and we have no control over when they change. Tell us if something here is wrong and we will fix it.
