Count Your Stock

Count What Is Really There

A stock count is you standing in the van or the shop writing down what you can actually see, then KeyBolt comparing that to what it thought was there. Start one at Inventory, then Operations, then Start count.

The count is blind. KeyBolt hides the expected number while you count, so you record what is in front of you rather than what the screen says. Techs can run a count. Only an owner, manager, or dispatcher can approve the corrections at the end.

This is on both plans, Basic and KeyBolt Pro.

Running One

  1. Go to Inventory, then Operations.
  2. Under Counts, tap Start count.
  3. Pick the Location you are counting. One count covers one location.
  4. Work down the list and type a Counted quantity for each item.
  5. Submit when you are done. You can stop part way and come back to it.

Reviewing the Difference

Submitting opens the review screen. It puts three columns side by side for every item: Expected, Counted, and the difference. A plus sign means you found more than KeyBolt expected, a minus means less.

Nothing changes yet. Your stock numbers stay exactly as they were until an owner, manager, or dispatcher taps Approve corrections. That is what turns the count into real adjustments, and each one lands in the activity record with the count as its reason.

Count one van at a time, not the whole shop. A short count you finish beats a long one you abandon. Do a van on the Friday you restock it and you will find the missing blanks while you can still remember the job you used them on.
