Low Stock Alerts

Never Run Out of Key Blanks Again

Running out of a common key blank in the middle of a job is embarrassing and costly — you lose time driving to the supply house and the customer loses confidence. KeyBolt's low stock alerts make sure you reorder before you run out.

Setting Thresholds

Every inventory item has a low stock threshold field. This is the minimum quantity you want on hand before getting an alert. Set it based on how fast you go through each item:

  • High-use items (KW1, SC1 key blanks) — set the threshold to 10-20. You might use several per day.
  • Medium-use items (deadbolts, cylinders) — set to 3-5. You use these weekly.
  • Specialty items (transponder chips, safe parts) — set to 1-2. You only need them occasionally, but they're hard to get last minute.

How Alerts Work

When an item's quantity drops to or below its threshold, two things happen:

  • A low stock warning appears on your dashboard in the alerts section. It shows the item name, current quantity, and location.
  • The item is highlighted in red on the inventory list so it stands out when you're browsing your stock.

Alerts remain visible until you restock the item above its threshold. There's no "dismiss" — the alert goes away when the problem is fixed.

Dashboard Overview

Your dashboard shows a low stock count in the quick stats area. Tap it to jump directly to a filtered view of all items below their threshold. This gives you a ready-made restock list you can take to the supply house or use when placing orders online.

Tip: Set thresholds for your top 20 items first — the blanks, cylinders, and hardware you use most often. You can always add thresholds for specialty items later. A few well-set thresholds are more useful than dozens of ignored alerts.
