Set Up Your Phone Menu

KeyBolt Pro feature. The phone menu is part of the phone system on the $189/mo Pro plan. Compare plans.

What the Phone Menu Does

A phone menu greets callers with choices: press 1 to speak with a locksmith, press 2 to hear your hours. It is off until you turn it on. While it is off, every call rings your techs right away.

Tap Phone & SMS in the left sidebar, then Phone menu. On a phone, tap More, then Phone & SMS. Changes save on their own.

Turning It On

  1. Tick Enable phone menu. Three more cards appear below it.
  2. Write your Greeting prompt, the line callers hear before KeyBolt listens for a key.
  3. Add your choices under Menu options with the Add option button.
  4. Set If no key is pressed.

Most shops only need one or two options. Do not build a phone tree. A customer standing next to a busted lock will hang up.

What an Option Can Do

Each option is one key on the keypad, plus a label and an action. The actions are:

  • Ring my team. The normal call flow. Every on-duty tech rings.
  • Send to voicemail.
  • Forward to a number. Sends the caller to a number you type in.
  • Play a message and hang up. Good for hours, service area, or a holiday closing.
  • Hand off to AI agent. The AI receptionist takes the call. Needs the AI agent set up first.
  • Hang up.
Important: Mention every option in your greeting prompt. If it is not in the prompt, callers will not know to press it.

If the Caller Presses Nothing

You get three choices: send to voicemail, ring your team anyway, or just hang up. The default is voicemail, and that is on purpose. Robocallers do not press keys, so they end up in voicemail instead of ringing every tech's cell. Real customers who miss the prompt still get to leave a message.

A slider sets how long KeyBolt waits for a key, from 3 to 15 seconds. It starts at 5.
