Clock In and Out

The Punch Card

The time clock answers one question: was this person at work, and for how long? That's what you run payroll from. Find it under Time Clock in the sidebar. On a phone, tap More, then Time Clock.

It's on both plans, Basic and KeyBolt Pro. Everyone on your team can clock themselves in and out except view-only members.

Clocking In and Out

One big button at the top of the page. It says Clock In when you're off and Clock Out when you're on. That's the whole thing.

While you're on the clock you'll see when you started and a timer counting up. Below that, This week shows your hours per day and a running total. You can't clock in twice: KeyBolt will tell you to clock out first.

Seeing Your Crew's Hours

Owners and managers get a Team hours section under their own clock. Everyone else sees only themselves.

Use the arrows to move between weeks. Each person gets a card with their total and a breakdown by pay class. Open a card and you can fix things:

  • Edit an entry's Clock in, Clock out, Pay class, or Note, then Save.
  • Delete an entry that shouldn't be there.
  • Add missed entry for the tech who forgot to clock in. This is going to happen. Every week.

Pay Class

Every entry has a pay class: Regular, Overtime, Double time, or Holiday. New entries are Regular.

Setting it by hand is an override. An entry you tag Overtime, Double time, or Holiday is taken at your word and pulled out of the automatic overtime math entirely. That's your escape hatch for the week that doesn't fit the rules. See Automatic Overtime.

Getting Hours Out for Payroll

In the Team hours header, tap Download CSV. You get that week's hours with one row per entry: Member, Date, Clock in, Clock out, Hours, Regular, Overtime, Double time, Holiday, and Note. Hours are decimal (2.50, not 2:30) so payroll can read them.

Anyone still clocked in exports with blank hours rather than being dropped, so you can see you're waiting on them.

This is not the Timesheets report. Reports has a Timesheets tab, and it measures something else: how long jobs took. The two will not match, and neither is broken. A tech clocked in for 8 hours might log 6 across jobs. The gap is drive time, lunch, and shop time. Pay people from the Time Clock. Cost jobs from Timesheets.
